A Day of Exploration Beyond the Mara

This blog post isn’t just about spotting the “big five.” It’s about stepping into the heart of Kenya’s wilderness, where ancient history and vibrant culture intertwine. Today, we’re venturing beyond the typical safari routes to explore a place where the past comes alive.

The Journey:

Morning:

We’ll begin with a scenic helicopter ride over the Great Rift Valley, a landscape so vast and diverse it feels like traversing multiple countries in a single day. We’ll land in areas rarely seen by tourists, exploring mountains, sand dunes, and salt flats teeming with life.

Mid-day:

A highlight of the day will be a walking safari to a hidden cave near Mara Bushtops, adorned with ancient rock art. Imagine witnessing depictions of wildlife and warriors, painted centuries ago, and learning about the Maasai people’s deep connection to this land.

Afternoon:

We’ll spend time with the Reteti Elephant Sanctuary, learning about their incredible work in rescuing and rehabilitating orphaned elephants, and witnessing the positive impact on the local community.

Evening:

We’ll conclude the day with a traditional Maasai cultural experience, perhaps a bonfire under the starry African sky, listening to captivating stories and learning about their way of life.
