Angama Mara

Perched high on the edge of the Oloololo Escarpment overlooking the Maasai Mara, Angama Mara is one of Kenya’s most iconic luxury safari lodges. Its Swahili name, meaning “suspended in mid-air,” reflects the dramatic setting above the Great Rift Valley, where uninterrupted views stretch across the Mara plains and the wildlife-rich Mara Triangle below.

The lodge offers a refined safari experience shaped by privacy, personalised service and exceptional guiding. Positioned close to the Mara Triangle, Angama Mara provides excellent access to Big Five game viewing and the Great Migration while maintaining a quieter atmosphere away from busier areas of the reserve.

Contemporary African design, warm Kenyan hospitality and strong conservation values come together to create a safari lodge that feels both sophisticated and deeply connected to the landscape.

Angama Mara features two separate camps – North Camp and South Camp – each with 15 spacious tented suites designed to maximise privacy and panoramic views across the Maasai Mara. Floor-to-ceiling glass fronts create a constant connection to the surrounding wilderness, while generous interiors combine modern comfort with understated elegance.

Each suite includes an en-suite bathroom, soaking tub, indoor and outdoor showers, spacious living areas and a private deck positioned for sunrise and sunset views over the plains. Interconnecting family suites are also available, making the lodge well suited to couples, families and multi-generational safari travel.

The central guest areas include stylish lounges, dining spaces, a swimming pool, fitness facilities and Angama’s signature Map Room, where guests can plan personalised safari experiences throughout their stay.

Safari activities at Angama Mara focus on immersive wildlife viewing across the Maasai Mara and Mara Triangle. Game drives regularly encounter lions, elephants, leopards, cheetahs, giraffes and large herds of plains game, particularly during the Great Migration season between July and October.

Beyond traditional game drives, guests can enjoy guided walking safaris, hot-air balloon excursions, private bush dining experiences and visits to nearby Maasai communities. Photography-focused safaris and conservation experiences add further depth to the stay.

With exceptional scenery, strong guiding and one of the Mara’s most dramatic locations, Angama Mara delivers a luxury Kenya safari experience that feels exclusive, immersive and distinctly personal.
